How To Play

How To Play Cornhole

Game Setup

  • Place the two boards 27 feet apart (measured from the front edges)
  • Create two teams with 1-2 players each
  • Each team gets 4 bean bags of the same color
  • Players must stay behind the front edge of the board while throwing

Basic Gameplay

  • Teams alternate throwing bean bags at the opposite board
  • Players from opposing teams stand at opposite boards and alternate throws
  • After all 8 bags are thrown, complete the round by calculating points
  • Teams then start the next round throwing from the opposite board
  • Continue playing rounds until a team wins

Throwing Techniques

The Basic Toss

  • Hold the bag by its center
  • Stand with feet planted
  • Use a gentle underhand throwing motion
  • Release the bag at waist height
  • Try to maintain a consistent form

Advanced Techniques

  • Add a gentle spin to help the bag stay on the board
  • Experiment with different angles of approach
  • Try sliding shots that travel across the board
  • Use blocker shots to protect your scoring bags

Strategy Tips

  • Start with straight shots to get a feel for distance
  • Consider blocking the hole if your opponent is accurate
  • Try to land bags in front of the hole for sliding shots
  • Watch how your bags react to the board surface
  • Adjust your throwing style based on wind conditions

Setting Up For Success

  • Ensure the playing area is clear of obstacles
  • Check that boards are stable and level
  • Position boards away from hazards
  • Keep spectators clear of throwing lanes
